Square Silver Snake Chain

A snake chain is made from tightly fitted plates that close into a continuous tube with no gaps showing between them. This one is squared off rather than round, so it has four flat sides and a sharper reflection along each. It is sterling silver 925 with a rhodium plating, worked at 1mm.

That makes it a fine chain, at its best worn alone or with something small and light — a pendant with a wide bail will not sit properly on a strand this narrow. Lengths are 40cm, which sits at the base of the neck, and 45cm, which drops just below the collarbone. Both disappear neatly under a shirt collar.

Manufactured in Italy. The rhodium layer is hard and bright white and it shields the silver underneath, though abrasive cleaners and polishing pastes will cut through it in time. Warm water and a soft cloth are enough. Australian orders are sent insured, flat rate, by Express Post.
